Valencia has a hard light and a long coast, and both of those show up in the work whether I plan them or not. Pointillism is my way of building a picture without rushing the color. Impressionist paint is the faster cousin, for plazas and afternoons that will not wait. Underwater photographs are the third thing: quiet, blue, and impossible to fake from memory. I go out when the sea is calm enough and I come back glad to be at a dry table. The studio is above a noisy street. I do not mind. The pictures are made of attention, and attention can survive a little noise.
