About Oliver Bennett
Manchester is brick, rain, and long sightlines, which is why so many of my drawings are about perspective. I like a street that tells you where to stand. Impressionist painting is for the hour when the brick goes warm and the river stops looking like a fact. Sports photographs are my way of being around people without asking them to pose. Decorative work, the smaller poured pieces, is what I do when I need a result I can hold. None of this is a brand. It is a week. The studio is in an old mill room with good north light and a door that sticks.
