About Emily Walsh

Bristol has gardens, harbors, and a lot of weather, and I paint all three. Impressionism is for the days when color is doing the work and drawing a hard edge would be a lie. Realism is for the days I want the harbor to be a harbor, with the right number of posts. The hearth pieces are the studio's other job: objects made slowly, meant to be used or at least lived near. I keep a regular schedule because talent is a poor plan. Morning light, then lunch, then a harder pass on whatever failed yesterday. Visitors are fine. Just do not stand in the light.
