About Lucas Almeida

Recife is bright, coastal, and never short of motion, which is why the sports pictures feel natural and the paintings feel necessary. I photograph finishes and fields because I like a decisive second. I paint when that second is not enough and the feeling has to be built with color instead of caught. Metalwork is the third practice, smaller and more exact, filigree and forged forms that ask for quiet hands. I do not have a grand theory. I have a city, a set of tools, and a habit of finishing. If you see the work in person, look at the edges. That is where I tell the truth.
