About Anna Nowak

Drawing is the whole practice for me. I live in Warsaw and I draw the people who will sit, and also the people who will not, which is why so many of the sheets are only a shoulder and a hand. Figure drawing keeps my eye honest. Sketching keeps the day from disappearing. Paint shows up when the drawing needs a temperature, not when I am bored of graphite. I keep the studio plain on purpose. Too many objects and I start drawing the room instead of the person in it. You are welcome to look closely. The work is meant to be looked at closely.
