About Julien Moreau

Marseille is loud, bright, and full of edges, which suits the way I paint. Abstract work lets me keep the heat without painting another sunny street. Metal is the counterpart: I like a form I can walk around, something that holds the same energy after the color is gone. Perspective drawings are my notes. I make them when a street corner will not resolve in my head. The studio is a rented room near the port, not a gallery with a bell. If you visit, expect tools on the table and a window that does not close all the way. The work comes out of that, not in spite of it.
