The Sketch That Sold Because You Showed the Eraser Marks

A gallery we know listed a charcoal portrait with one heroic crop. It sat. The same piece, reshot with the kneaded-eraser scuff in daylight, sold in two days. Buyers on Art World already know a human made this. They want to see the human.
If you are pricing like a dealer, shoot like a dealer who still has a studio. One honest close-up of the edge does more than three lifestyle shots of a plant you do not sell.
Inside tip: hero image still sells the dream. Image two proves you are not running a magic show.
Comments
As a collector: the honest close-up is why I drive. If image two is a crime, I stay home.
Shot the chip on the frame. Sold before dinner. The buyer thanked me for not hiding it.
